As the series went on, however, the Triforce of Wisdom would fade into the background while the Triforce of Courage took center stage. On that note, this also means that the Triforce of Wisdom is the first piece of the Triforce to break apart. At least as far as release order goes. The Triforce pieces would remain whole up until the release of The Wind Waker where the Triforce of Courage was shattered very much like the Triforce of Wisdom.
This is something The Wind Waker does rather deliberately. Not only does TWW pay tribute to Ocarina of Time , it also pays a lot homage to the first game, to the point where it was the most exploration heavy 3D Zelda before Breath of the Wild.
The broken Triforce pieces were just another way to link the games together. The next game would introduce the Triforce of Courage, but the first game seems to suggest that the Triforce is made up of two halves. This likely explains the role the Triforce of Wisdom plays in the animated series. Zelda is typically the only character who spouts genuine Wisdom.
Cast in point: Sheik. Interestingly, despite the connection, Nayru should inherently have to Zelda, they rarely intersect on a thematic level. The Triforce of Courage embodies the essence of the Goddess of Courage, Farore , the source of all life. Though Link is not a skilled sorcerer like Ganondorf or Zelda, the Triforce of Courage, like the other sacred triangles, grants him untold mystical abilities, one of them being protection against magic.
In Twilight Princess , the Triforce of Courage, from the very beginning of the game, is already visible in Link's hand. One of the known effects of the Triforce of Courage in the said game is transforming Link into a wolf instead of into a lost soul like every other being from the Light World. Here, it is revealed that a previous King of Hyrule , fearing the misuse of the Triforce, sealed the Triforce of Courage away in the Great Palace , where only a hero worthy of its power would be able to obtain it after proving himself.
Uniting it with the Triforce of Wisdom and Power, he was able to break the spell cast on the sleeping Princess Zelda. Ocarina of Time reveals that after Ganondorf touched the Triforce in the Sacred Realm, the Triforce split into three pieces, with the Triforce of Courage being imparted to Link. This causes him to be separated from "the elements that made him a hero," causing the Triforce of Courage to be split into eight Triforce Shards and be hidden throughout the kingdom. Few have ever possessed the Triforce, or any fraction thereof.
In Skyward Sword , Link gathered all three pieces of the Triforce in the Sky Keep , a dungeon in Skyloft placed there by Hylia to hide the precious relic until the time her chosen hero arose.
He then prayed to it for the eradication of Demise. Aside from the three known Triforce Holders, to date, three to four other people have possessed a part of the Triforce: prior to The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link , the Prince of Hyrule possessed the Triforces of Wisdom and Power, though the crest did not appear on his hand [65] , in Twilight Princess , Princess Zelda conferred her soul and presumably the Triforce of Wisdom with it to Midna allowing her to exist in the World of Light.
Though Zant never actually possessed any part of the Triforce, he received his power from Ganon, thus indirectly receiving power from the Triforce of Power. When two bearers of the Triforce are in proximity with one other, their Triforce piece will resonate.
This is demonstrated in Ocarina of Time when Link's, Zelda's, and Ganondorf's Triforce pieces glow once the young hero reaches the top of Ganon's Tower. The same game also indicates that a wielder's piece resonates even when near an individual with a broken piece, as Tetra's necklace had part of the Triforce of Wisdom removed beforehand. In Skyward Sword , the Triforce is first referred to during the introduction. When the gods of old departed from the world, they trusted their ultimate power, the Triforce, in the hands of the goddess Hylia to protect it.
Unbeknownst to anyone, Hylia also hid the entrances to the land where the Triforce lay on this aerial outcropping, in a secret structure called the Sky Keep. Before departing, Hylia also entrusted the guardians of the surface as well as Levias to teach the chosen hero their part of the " Song of the Hero ", since should the hero succeed in conquering the last trial, the path to the Sky Keep would open to him.
Link succeeds in his task and, with the Triforce in hand, the young hero goes up onto the Statue of the Goddess and makes his wish: the destruction of Demise. The Triforce's power causes the entire island containing the Goddess Statue to break free from Skyloft and plummet down to the surface, thus returning to its original location at the Sealed Grounds and destroying the Imprisoned just as it attempts to break out once more with the Sky Keep itself.
When this is accomplished, Impa reminds Zelda that she must stay in the past to watch over the Triforce since its might is too powerful to leave in "the grasp of man". She also mentions that once the Triforce has served its purpose, it will be secreted away once again, its existence kept hidden from everyone.
Many years after the events of Skyward Sword , there was an era of chaos with wars and fighting over the Triforce that was located in the Sacred Realm. To put an end to these wars, an ancient sage, Rauru , built over the remains of the Sealed Temple a new Temple of Time, which contained the only entrance to the Sacred Realm. The Triforce crest can also be found on various places around Hyrule, such as above the bell in Hyrule Town , or at Hyrule Castle , and on Gustaf 's tombstone in the Royal Crypt.
According to the director of the game, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, it is unknown if the light force, which Vaati searches for, has some relationship with the Triforce. The history of the Triforce is further elaborated upon in Ocarina of Time. Its nature of splitting into three pieces when someone with an unbalanced heart touches it is revealed to be one of the many Sheikah legends spoken of in the game.
Ganondorf , the sole male Gerudo from the desert in the west of Hyrule , is in search of the Triforce to use it to conquer Hyrule. The person would keep the piece of Triforce that represents the thing one most believes in, and the other two pieces would seek out a hiding place in the body of those chosen by destiny.
Out of all current games, Ocarina of Time has been the basis of the most rumors on receiving the Triforce in a Zelda game to date. Although it is well known that it is not an item that can be received in the game, many stories and rumors from fans claiming they have obtained the Triforce by doctored photos and such have come up.
These rumors were mostly due to an engraving of the Triforce on the Quest Status menu, centered between all of the Medallions , although it is only there for decoration purposes.
The Child Timeline is the timeline that follows Link after being sent back to his original time following the defeat of Ganondorf by the Hero of Time in the final battle. He warns Princess Zelda and the current King of Hyrule of the tragic future that awaited the kingdom involving Ganondorf if nothing was to be done. The Triforce does not play any direct role in the storyline of Majora's Mask. Fans who support the idea that the Temple was meant to insult Hyrule's Goddesses cite this in their arguments.
The word "Triforce" is not used at any point during Twilight Princess. However, the Triforce is obviously well-known since markings of it exist on the Hylian Shield and on various walls around Castle Town and Hyrule Castle. Its power is also spoken of by the ancient Sages of Hyrule who guarded the Mirror of Twilight , and by the Light Spirit Lanayru when she tells Link the story of the interlopers who tried to take over the Sacred Realm and, with it, the Triforce. Each of the Triforce bearers can be seen using their piece of the Triforce at various points in the game, such as when Link is protected by the Triforce of Courage's power when he first enters into the Twilight.
Interestingly, the wielders of the Triforce are said to be "blessed by the goddesses. Zelda, Link and possibly Ganondorf are not turned to spirits by the Twilight just as Midna, once she receives Zelda's Triforce, does not have to transform into a shadow in the Light World, signifying that their Triforce pieces protect them. The Adult Timeline is the timeline that follows the events after Link is being sent back to his original time, following the Hero of Time's defeat of Ganondorf in the final battle.
Ganondorf is sealed within the Sacred Realm by the Seven Sages but, with Link sent back in time, the world is left without a Hero.
The Triforce of Courage, left in Hyrule after the legendary Hero that appeared in Ocarina of Time departed from Hyrule original Japanese suggests the Triforce split when the Hero "journeyed the flows of time" at Ocarina of Time' s end , shattered into eight pieces and hid throughout the kingdom.
By the time the events of The Wind Waker take place, the land is now under the Great Sea , with the shards of the Triforce of Courage locked in chests beneath the sea or in secret caves on several islands. The young hero assembles the full Triforce of Courage and shows it before the Gods at the Tower of Gods , who acknowledge Link's courage and accept him as the Hero of Winds.
It is mentioned in the game that Tetra 's mother passed down a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom to her daughter and asked her to "guard it with her life. The Triforce is referred to as the Triumph Forks by the Fishmen.
By the time The Wind Waker takes place, the word "Triforce" appears to have been forgotten, possibly due to the Great Flood and distortions of the old legends of Hyrule. The "Triforce" legend had been seemingly supplanted by a "Triumph Forks" legend. Link is told that in order to pass through a door in the Temple, the "sacred crest" must be drawn on it.
In addition, the three triangular pedestals that Link must place Force Gems on to continue in various rooms are in shape of the Triforce, albeit each piece not touching. In Spirit Tracks , the Triforce is also not mentioned throughout the whole game. It should be noted that while the Triforce, which is considered to be the famous emblem of Hyrule and its Hyrule Royal Family , is nowhere to be seen, the symbol of the Spirits appears throughout many places of the " new Hyrule.
The Downfall Timeline is the timeline in which Link, the Hero of Time, despite his best efforts, was defeated by Ganondorf in the final battle. This allowed the Evil King to obtain the full Triforce , but was subsequently sealed within the Dark World by Princess Zelda and the other awakened sages, taking the Triforce with him. The Triforce is first revealed as a divine manifestation of the Goddesses' power in A Link to the Past.
Bestowed upon Hyrule upon their departure, it lay hidden in the fabled Golden Land , where it beckoned the people of Hyrule to seek it in hopes that someone worthy of its power would find it.
After obtaining the Master Sword and rescuing the seven maidens, Link defeats Ganon inside the Pyramid of Power and recovers the complete Triforce. Instructed by the Triforce to take it with a wish in his heart, Link used its power to cleanse the evil that had been done by Ganon; healing those who had been wounded by his evil, restoring the Dark World to the Golden Land, and restoring peace to Hyrule.
The Triforce calls to Link from its place in Hyrule Castle in Oracle of Seasons , telling him to accept "their quest". The Triforce is also seen on the pedestals of the Essences of Nature. After defeating Ganon in a Linked Game , the Triforce splits apart and transforms into three birds that fly off in different directions. The Triforce is also seen on the pedestals of the Essences of Time. Ganon claimed the Triforce of Power, whilst he was still sealed up; the Triforce of Wisdom stayed with the Royal Family ; and the Triforce of Courage merged into the heart of the Hero Eternal , where it slumbers.
Once Link has rescued all of the Sages, they work together to summon the Triforce of Courage, which then enters into Link's possession. Once Link storms Lorule Castle to rescue Zelda, Princess Hilda reveals that, at one time, Lorule had its own parallel counterpart of the Triforce, which bears the same name and visually resembles an inverted version of Hyrule's. As was the case in Hyrule, wars were fought over this Triforce, prompting Hilda's ancestors to destroy it to end the bloodshed.
To save her kingdom, Hilda sent Yuga to Hyrule to steal the Triforce, which would thus restore balance to Lorule, though at the same time condemn Hyrule to the same collapse. Link succeeds in defeating Yuga, however, prompting an angered Hilda to demand Yuga's Triforce of Power; however, he instead reveals that he never cared for Lorule's fate, merely desiring the Triforce for himself. After Ravio manages to persuade Hilda of the evil nature of her actions, Hilda agrees to send Link and Zelda back to Hyrule, though seemingly dooming her kingdom in the process.
As it reappears, Lorule's skies begin to lighten as Hilda expresses tearful gratitude, seemingly indicating that Lorule is once more in balance. The Triforce Gateways are the only known entrances to the Drablands.
The power of these gateways will only open when three heroes gather, allowing for travel between the worlds. In the Hall of the Doppels , if Link is without allies, then he can still enter the Drablands, but with the presence of two Doppels.
These gateways will only appear and activate once the Links have fulfilled certain requirements in each Stage, such as opening a pathway, defeating all enemies, or picking up the available items. Stepping on these gateways will advance the Links to the next Stage. In The Legend of Zelda , the Triforce of Wisdom and Triforce of Power are described as "golden triangles possessing mystical powers" that grant their holders great power. In the prologue of the game, it is mentioned that a historic King of Hyrule used the Triforce to keep peace in Hyrule; however, he eventually passed away and, fearing someone would misuse the powers of the Triforce, hid the Triforce of Courage in the Great Palace.
Here, it could only be obtained by one who could fight his way through six other palaces to break the magical seal left by the king.
Link overcame these obstacles to achieve the third Triforce, and used the power of the united relic to wake the slumbering Princess Zelda. It is ironic to note that despite the Goddesses' attempt to have the Triforce help benefit the people of the Surface, it actually caused more harm than good due to its power being misused by others such as Ganondorf along with it indirectly causing wars and tragedies.
The game also reveals that the Triforce was not created solely in Hyrule: another Triforce had also been created for Lorule; this version is upside down in appearance. However, Lorule suffered through a civil war, and the Lorulean Royal Family was forced to destroy their Triforce, believing it to be a means to end their strife. However, it instead caused their kingdom to crumble and fall apart even more.
Princess Hilda planned to use Hyrule's Triforce to restore her kingdom. However, she had ultimately been used by Yuga so he could remake Lorule to fit his own desires. It is odd to note that the Royal Family of Hyrule didn't seem to use their Triforce in some of the games, yet didn't seem to suffer as much as their Lorule counterparts.
After Yuga is defeated, Hilda, after realizing upon a confrontation with Ravio the main reason for the Triforce's destruction, redeems herself by sending Link and Zelda back to Hyrule with the last of Ravio's Bracelet 's power.
Lorule's Triforce is restored shortly thereafter when Link and Zelda, acting out of pity for Hilda and Lorule's plight, wish via the Triforce to restore Lorule's Triforce. Despite the presence of Ganon in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , the Triforce itself is not directly mentioned nor does it play a role in the game's plot.
However the Triforce symbol is still present in various places of Hyrule such as the Temple of Time , Hyrule Castle , certain shields, and Armor. Interestingly, during Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule 's retelling of the Great Calamity , a complete Triforce mark appears on Zelda's hand when she confronts Calamity Ganon, though this is more likely related to her sealing powers.
This mark also appears in one of Link's Recovered Memories when Zelda awakens her sealing power which are apparently divine in nature as it is suggested Princess Zelda and the Royal Family of Hyrule are descended from Hylia presumably through Hylia's mortal reincarnation the Spirit Maiden from Skyward Sword. There is no indication that this mark represents complete Triforce given that Zelda is only able to seal Calamity Ganon and herself upon awaking her power as were it the complete Triforce, Zelda would presumably have more than enough power at her disposal to defeat and seal Calamity Ganon on her own.
Presumably this Triforce mark may be Zelda's equivalent to the Mark of a Hero as it is tied to her hereditary divine sealing power and ability to here spirits which she inherited from her grandmother according to what her mother told her. Given Hylia has apparently regained her divinity presumably she has returned to her traditional role as the divine protector of the Triforce thus explaining why she does not get more directly involved in the Champions conflict with Calamity Ganon presumably leaving Ganon's defeat to her chosen hero and her reincarnate's descendant who are aided by Hylia's devote followers the Sheikah Monks , Great Deku Tree , and the slumbering but conscious ancient spirit of the Master Sword.
This would also explain the Triforce's absence as its presumably safe with Hylia whom likely guards to keep it away from the Great King of Evil and to prevent any further conflicts over it among the Hyrulean people like the Hyrulean Civil War in the distant past. Interestingly there is no indication Ganon seeks to acquire it though this may be due to the degenerative state of his Calamity Ganon and Dark Beast Ganon forms which is apparently the result of his repeat cycle of resurrections and sealings.
Interestingly, a unique Triforce mark design appears on the Temple of Time and the Sacred Ground Ruins , which features the Marks of the Goddesses on their respective Triforce piece and the crest of the Royal Family of Hyrule in the center. Its Triforce-like shape is likely intentional as its designers were ancient Sheikah that existed 10, years before Breath of the Wild.
Hyrule's Triforce can be split up into three pieces, which can then be split up even further, as shown in the original Legend of Zelda game, where the Triforce of Wisdom was split into eight pieces, and in The Wind Waker , where the Triforce of Courage was split into eight pieces. When two people with a Triforce piece come in close contact, the Triforce symbol on their hand will glow and when all three are together as seen again in both The Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time , it is possible that the Triforce will be summoned.
The pieces can also glow on their own. The Triforce of Courage was never referenced in the original Legend of Zelda game, and it never appears or is mentioned in the television adaptation of the series although it is shown in the Captain N series and comics by Valiant.
This Triforce Piece is associated with green and the goddess Farore. This piece is the lower right triangle. He first had to clear six palaces and place a crystal in each, to gain entrance to the last palace and obtain the Triforce piece. With the full Triforce reassembled, Link awakens the sleeping Princess Zelda.
In Ocarina of Time , the Triforce of Courage is hidden within Link when the Triforce splits into three after Ganondorf, who is an unbalanced individual, touches the sacred relic.
In The Wind Waker , it is stated that when the Hero of Time left Hyrule possibly when Zelda returns Link to his childhood , the Triforce of Courage was broken into eight pieces and scattered, to be recovered one day by another Hero deserving of its power.
After restoring the power to the Master Sword in The Wind Waker , Link discovers and gathers all eight shards of the Triforce of Courage that had been stored at the bottom of the Great Sea, and enters Hyrule, submerged in a magic air chamber on the sea floor.
The Triforce of Courage may grant its holder certain abilities, though this is never canonically confirmed. In Twilight Princess , Link is implied to posses the Triforce of Courage, and appears immune to certain kinds of dark magic; when Link was exposed to the Twilight , he became a "sacred beast", Wolf Link , rather than a trapped spirit. This may instead be due to his being the hero chosen by the gods. It is also possible that the Triforce of Courage was designed as a safeguard in the event that someone, such as Ganondorf, would attain the Triforce of Power for evil; the person that gets the Triforce of Courage is given the courage and the strength to fight the Triforce of Power, as Link has always been shown to be able to defeat Ganondorf, despite the impossible odds of doing so.
Alternately, instead of giving its wielder an ability, the Triforce of Courage may reward their courage by defending them from some maledictions. In the former case, Ganondorf also utilized an attack in which "waves of darkness" prevented Navi from targeting him, but the attack is largely inaffective against Link; while in the latter case, Ganondorf beat Link with his bare hands to incapacitate him before the final battle instead of utilizing a magical attack.
If the Triforce of Courage does defend its wielder, however, the protection is not ubiquitous, as Link can still be hurt and killed even while wielding it, and its possible that the protection only works for magics originating from the Triforce of Power. In the short-lived Legend of Zelda comic series, by Valiant, the Triforce of Courage, held by Link, also extended protection against certain attacks, creating a golden, pyramidal force field around him. In this interpretation of the post-game story, it is also possible for the hero to become UN-worthy of the Triforce. At one point, Link becomes tainted by greed and anger, after he snatches the Triforce of Power from Ganon and allows it to warp him mentally and physically.

The original in-game design for the Triforce of Wisdom was a simple triangle which alternated between flashing blue and gold.
In the cartoons by D. In the Legend of Zelda comics by Valiant, Wisdom is a glowing, pale gold triangular prism. After The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past , the Triforce of Wisdom ceased having an individual design and became simply one of three golden triangular wedges which, combined with the other two pieces, make up the complete Triforce.
It is only once Ocarina of Time was developed that the Triforce of Wisdom became associated with the color blue, and its corresponding deity, Nayru, was named.
Like the Triforce of Courage, this piece may give the user in almost all cases, Princess Zelda special abilities. In Twilight Princess , Zelda, who is strongly implied to posses the Triforce of Wisdom, is shown to heal Midna from her injuries after being exposed to light, at Zelda's own expense, possibly by giving the Triforce to her.
Further speculation is that the Triforce of Wisdom simply enhances existing magical ability. For example, to hide from Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time , Zelda assumes an alter ego, Sheik , by magically disguising herself as a Sheikah or, as explained in the Ocarina of Time manga, having her consciousness sealed away by Impa inside the physical body of a Sheikah boy ; it is speculated that she used the power of the Triforce of Wisdom to do so.
Also, in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time , the Triforce of Wisdom is possibly what allows Zelda to perform telekinesis in order to move the iron gates in Ganons castle , hold Ganon at bay near the end of the battle, and send Link back in time.
However, none of Zelda's powers have ever been confirmed to originate from the Triforce of Wisdom, and all of them may simply be a unique trait of the Royal Family of Hyrule , or a result of being one of the Seven Maidens , Seven Sages, or descendant thereof.
In the original game, the Triforce of Wisdom was split by Princess Zelda into eight parts, which were then hidden inside puzzle and enemy filled dungeons, in order to hide it from Ganon, who kidnapped Zelda and sent his minions after her nursemaid, Impa, who alone knew where the pieces had gone. Link had to find and clear each dungeon in order to reunite the pieces and face Ganon.
In the cartoons and comics, Ganon devised all manner of schemes to attempt to claim the Triforce of Wisdom which, when united with the Triforce of Power that he already possessed, would supposedly make him an unstoppable tyrant. It is strongly implied, but never proven, that Zelda holds the Triforce of Wisdom during the events of Twilight Princess. The piece is speculated to have been briefly given to Midna by Zelda though neither a physical piece nor a Triforce mark on Midna's hand is shown , in order to save Midna's life after the villainous Zant exposes Midna to the Light Spirit Lanayru 's pure light, in an attempt to kill her.
It revives Midna, giving her the ability to take on her physical form in the Realm of Hyrule. However, by giving it up, Zelda is made vulnerable to attack, herself whether the Triforce was somehow protecting her, until this point, or Ganondorf simply decided she was no longer worth the trouble of keeping around, is not clear.
Also Midna examines her hand briefly after leaving the Castle after being healed, a common gesture when looking at the Triforce piece on the back of the hand, so it is possible that Zelda did indeed transplant the Triforce of Wisdom to Midna temporarily.
When the pieces are put together, Tetra is revealed to be Princess Zelda, and is given the restored Triforce of Wisdom. However, despite Yuga-Ganon's possession of Ganon's body and the Triforce of Power, he is defeated, causing to Hilda demand that he hand the Triforce of Power to her, apparently planning on using the power of both Triforces to combat Link herself.
However, Yuga-Ganon reveals his traitorous intentions to remake Lorule in his own image and transforms Hilda into a painting that he swallows to absorb the Triforce of Wisdom. With both Triforces in his possession, Yuga-Ganon is transformed into an even stronger form.
After she is freed, Princess Hilda attempts to retake the Triforce of Wisdom and Power, but is stopped by Ravio , who manages to show her the error of her ways. The Lorulean Triforce has its own version of the Triforce of Wisdom, which was lost when the Royal Family of Lorule destroyed Lorule's Triforce, though later restored along with the other pieces by Link and Zelda's wish on Hyrule's Triforce to restore Lorule's Triforce. In Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon , for some reason, Impa has the Triforce of Wisdom; it behaves in an oracular fashion, and a few cutscenes show her looking into it rather like a crystal ball.
It is also depicted as light blue rather than gold. In the cartoon series by D. Super Show and Captain N: The Game Master and in the short-lived comics by Valiant, the Triforce of Wisdom is also used by Zelda to create protective force fields and even to generate attack spells, such as fireballs.
The Triforce shown in these publications also speaks, typically with the voice of a wise woman, offering advice which is usually delivered as a snippet of cryptic poetry. In the Captain N interpretation, it also has a very strong telepathic and perhaps even empathic bond with Zelda, who at one point faints and is temporarily possessed by the Triforce of Wisdom when the other two pieces, Power and Courage, are stolen by the Brain's henchmen, King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard.
While journeying to find the stolen parts, the Triforce repeatedly speaks through Zelda to offer Link and Captain N clues and status updates. In the original game, the Triforce of Power was stolen by Ganon. One of the goals of the game was to defeat Ganon, thus saving Zelda and reuniting the Triforce of Power with the Triforce of Wisdom. This piece is the top part of the Triforce, according to the crest on Ganon's hand. It is also the only Triforce piece that was not shattered at any point.
In Ocarina of Time , Ganondorf heard the legend of the Triforce and lusted after its power, primarily as a tool to subjugate the kingdom of Hyrule and expand his influence. Inadvertently aided by a young hero known as Link and the Hylian princess, Zelda, Ganondorf found his way into the Sacred Realm. Ganondorf did not know that to claim the true power of the Triforce, one must have all the three energies associated with the Triforce - Power, Wisdom, and Courage - in perfect balance.
Ganondorf sought the Triforce only for its power, thus, the sacred relic was broken into three pieces. Ganondorf used the power of the Triforce of Power to throw the land of Hyrule into chaos, and eventually sought to gather all three pieces of the Triforce. However, after kidnapping Zelda and facing off against Link, Ganondorf was defeated. Zelda used the power of the Sages to seal Ganon away within the Sacred Realm.
However, Ganondorf still held the Triforce of Power. Presumably through possession of the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf gains near invulnerability, astonishing magical powers, even allowing transformation into various beastly forms, and near immortality he has been known to live for long periods, but has also been killed while possessing the Triforce of Power, though other times he is only sealed away in some manner after his defeat.
Ganondorf's appearance as a nebulous, fiery entity while in the Twilight Realm may be a form of protection from the Twilight endowed by the Triforce of Power the forms fiery appearance many be due to Din's association with fire , similar to the wolf form that Link takes when exposed to certain Twilight magic, such as the Shadow Crystal. In Breath of the Wild , there is no indication Ganon possesses the Triforce of Power as his cycle of resurrections and formidable dark power without it is suggested to be due to Ganon and by extension Ganondorf being the resurrection of Demise's Hatred.

Following Phantom Ganon's defeat, the warping of time-space is repaired. Lana and the redeemed Cia, decide to split the Triforce of Power between themselves. At one point in the story, Link manages to take the Triforce of Power from Ganon and gains incredible magical ability. As a result, many of Ganon's minions forsake him and begin to follow Link. However, he soon begins to act less and less like himself, becoming cruel, greedy, and bent on revenge against Ganon.
As a result, the Triforce of Courage disowns Link, and it is soon after revealed that Link has physically transformed into something resembling Ganon's pig-man form. Most disturbing of all is the spiritual dependency which Link has now formed, and which Ganon is shown to already have, with the Triforce of Power.
