Where to find oily blackmouth fish in wow

So for all the little fishers out there.. Comment by Thottbot In Menethil Harbor, out where the shipwrecks are northwest of town. All along the shore were several schools of Oily Blackmouth. As soon as I saw it, I jumped on shore, equipped my rod and fished away. One way to see the school from above the water is there will be a circle on the top of the water That's a good marker to look for.

Try to get your bobber to land in or around the circle for best catching results! I also found a school of Firefin Snapper near the shore between the Deepwater Tavern and the old Osprey shipwreck.

Great for low-levels who want to get some cash - auction them off, and watch your silver level grow! Between 10 and 15 schools sit all the way across the coast, as well as Firefin Snappers. I also get lots of little surprises like locked boxes i'm a rogue so it's no prob. Comment by Thottbot There are no longer random catches of certain fish.

Oily Blackmouths and Firefin Snappers are used for potions and a worth money. Fishing bots killed this market so Blizzard now make schools of these fish. Very rare to get one of these fish when not fishing in a school. There are 2 kinds of schools.

One is the nice round school. Easy to cast into and guaranteed to catch whatever is in there. The other is a half crescent shaped one. The half one only gets a catch about half the time some other fish for the rest. There are limited number of fish in a school just like there are limited number of ore or herbs at a spot. Once the limit is reached, the school disappears. Not timed! The best way to fish is to stand in the water between your knees and waist and cast directly at the school.

Close does not count. If your cast looks good, change your view to see if you really are in the school. If not, recast. To catch these fish, you have to be in the blue. The areas for a school are preplanned by Blizzard and will cycle through just like ore or herbs.

Certain areas have more schools than others. Good fishing! Comment by Thottbot I was bored and had just arrived via the bay Yes, I swam there The Firefins might have been fished out of the Floating Wreckage though. Either way that's a good place to fish for them too. Comment by Thottbot Darkshore is a great place to fish for these.

Tons of schools all over. I've just been walking up and down the coast from school to school. Not dangerous either. There's some murlocs along the shore, but very easy to avoid. Comment by Thottbot If you are Alliance just run along the western shore of Darkshore - You will constantly fine oily blackmouth pools.

I'm not sure what level you have to be to catch them but just buy some shiny baubles and you'll be fine - i never had a problem trying to fish them and they're great for my alchemist and water potions. Comment by Allakhazam In Westfall I fished off the beach on a little island so no Mobs could bother me.

Don't recall how long I fished for though I caught 60 Albacore, 26 Oily blackmouth and about 50 Mackrel. Took my fishing from about 80 to No Bait. Then I cooked the Albacore and rose my cooking from around 80 to I think or so. Comment by Allakhazam Can be fished from the pier in Ratchet. Spent about 45 min fishing, starting at fishing lvl 1. Final skill when done was lvl Comment by Allakhazam After reading some posts here from Selbina, ponday and elannah about how much Oily Blackmouth can be caught in menethil harbor, I tried it myself.

But since a week or so i hardly catch any blackmouth there. Edited, Fri Oct 21 Comment by Allakhazam I have caught many oilys at North Tide's Run This is north of The sepulcher and you have to climb thru the mountains.

It just next to one of the shamans shrine. There a entire school of them. Also I started fishing here around Comment by Allakhazam Ok, I just figured out a way to get a really great catch ratio! Get a fishing pole and go to someplace like Darkshore shoreline north of Aub is best or Windsheer Crag the river, I think, but watch out for mob attacks.

Those are the two best places I've noticed, so far, that are lower level areas for either faction. Find the Oily Blackmouth Schools and cast your line into the circle or on the edge of the circle they make. In most of those cases but probably not all all you have to do is wade out past the school into deeper water and cast inland toward the school.

Since they're usually in shallow areas that shouldn't be too hard while still staying above swimming depth. I haven't tested this out in the river yet, but trying different angles of casting might work there too.

Just move around until you can hit the target. Just to make it faster, I put my fishing ability into a quick bar slot at the bottom in the secondary section so I could recast quickly if the bobber landed outside the circle. Comment by Allakhazam Got 5 out of 12 tries, at auberdine Comment by Allakhazam Menithil Harbor.. Comment by Allakhazam anyone know where you can buy oily blackmouth? Schools are random spawns and disappear after you caught a random number of items fish, chests, stranglekelp, They tend to respawn in the same places, so taking note of the location still pays off, at least you know where to check for a spwan.

Cheers Urbin. I saw a priest take a novel approach to that quest: Mind control the dwarf and send him jumping off the bridge. By the time he gets back, you're long gone. My warlock had gone there with a friend long, long ago - he could get the quests while I could not. The quests simply did not exist to me though we were similar levels if anything I was probably higher than him.

Recently my hunter passed through and got the quests straight away, and, possessing a sterling reputation with the goblins, I thought I might have finally hit upon the reason I could not do the quests previously.

So I'm puzzled what kept me from doing those quests so long ago All over the dang place. Menthil and Southshore have huge numbers of this fish, and schools with mostly blackmouth in them.

It's just not in a spot you're likely to get too except by accident - you either have to swim for a very long time, or obsessively prowl around the walls of Stromgarde castle.

Yep, I never even knew it existed for a long time - it is visible on one flightpath I think the Horde one from UC to Kargath? And even if you do take that flightpath you still have to be looking around you and paying attention, and then be curious enough to wonder if there's anything interesting at the random boat you can see in the cove.

Hehe, I'll take the latter label then. Thats how i found it on my first char. Was wandering around the outside of the castle looking for mithril deposits and noticed the tunnel. Went back there later with some friends and spent a long time swiming around doing those underwater collection quests great fun!!

If you want to go a little further and check out a well-hidden but otherwise useless little dwarf farm in the middle of nowhere, swim on out around past Faldir's Cove and aaaaaall the way up the long passage south of there, the one that goes under the bridge between Wetlands and Arathi Highlands, until you come to the open ocean an the far end A house and some barns and stuff, some garden patches, and a dwarf or two just hangin' out.

No quests or anything to do there, no hostile mobs, just a peaceful pastoral scene. Never did find the farmer's daughter, though That's a nice place, yeah - only visited it on my undead priest though, which meant I couldn't get too close to the dwarves as they were hostile to me and I didn't want to have to kill them ;-. Yeah they were that to me too but I figured they'd probably still aggro if I got too close ;- Never actually tested whether civilians aggro if you stand on top of them, perhaps they don't after all.

That made me laugh I didn't didn't touch the dwarves, but slaughtered their livestock and marched into their home, sat at their table, and ate their food.

And sleepy head there in the room with me just kept dreaming. Oily Blackmouth, Best Place to Fish? Orion Ryder. Reply to author.

Has anyone noticed a good place to fish for these? Not sure if I remembered the name right but it's that one for making the reagent for Underwater Breathing Potion.

Peter Knutsen usenet. Catriona R. On Wed, 20 Sep , jes Thomas T. Yeechang Lee. And you might also manage to fish up a Sea Pony while you are at it. However, i didn't get another Oily Blackmouth until i was level 68 fishing.

I found at least 2 pools there. Comment by ZanyRock dark moon faire is by faaaaaar the best place to fish for oily's. Comment by Azzukita I've found that the best place to farm this fish is in the Northern Stranglethorn area, the pools make it so much easier, even if they are shared with Firefin Snapper ones Comment by nukchuu1 I found The zoram strand to be good for pools in like 20 min i got 50 or so fish and i was also mining copper at the same time :.

Comment by genius13 If you're not after a huge pile of them and don't want to go all that far, there are usually a decent number of schools at Ratchet and south of there, plus several out on the nearby islands. Comment by BrainDeadPete Darkshore's a great place to fish these up. Circling Nazj'vel to the south, I found four schools, as well as an additional Firefin Snapper School. I also found a few more nodes while travelling the coast and as I returned south, I crossed in to nearby Ashenvale for two more schools.

Comment by Biddit99 Tried Duskwood - don't bother, only Sagefish schools. Got mine on Longshore coast Westfall. There are little 'villages' of Murlocs but they are level 10 - Comment by bookworm13 The data for the fishing location map pins seem to be out of date. The worst example is Darkmoon Island which only has Darkmoon Daggermaw in open water now. You'll see that Oily Blackmouth School is up to date and Darkshore is probably your best bet.

Comment by donovan This fish along with Firefin Snapper make me very angry during the fishing tourney. Comment by cvaters1 Thank you for the location of the Oily Blackmouth fish. I have been trying to guess were to fish for them for about a week now. I love this site its so informative. Comment by bomigabster Headed to Darkshore to see if I could find some of these fish. I started at Lor'Danel, followed the coast to the northern part of the map, then back down to the Ruins of Auberdine.

If you're looking for the fish to level up alchemy also keep an eye out for Stranglekelp off the coast, I picked up 9 in between fishing, as well as some Mageroyal and Earthroot along the cliffs.

Edited to add: I spent the next 15 minutes following the water in from the Ruins of Auberdine and found 11 more Oily Blackmouth Pools which gave me 29 more fish. Comment by onefreakycoppa Anyone still looking for these little suckers like I was, a single trip along the Westfall coast bagged me the following: 48x Oily Blackmouth 24x Firefin Snapper numerous chests with cloth, leather etc.
